1. COMMON PATTERN:
suggest + that+ (should) + infinitive
l I insisted / demanded that he should stop phoning me.
l I insisted / demanded that he stop phoning me.
l Everybody recommended that she should continue with her education for 3 more years.
l Everybody recommended that she continue with her education for 3 more years.
2. Note that do is not used in negative subjunctive sentences:
l They advised that he not return to work until fully fit.

1. These adjectives can be followed by “that- +should + infinitive”:
l It is important (that) you should take this medication night and morning.
l It is important (that) you take this medication night and morning without fail.
l It was desirable (that) she should go to a school where Italian was taught.
l It was desirable (that) she go to a school where Italian was taught.
2. You can use “for + object + infinitive”, which sounds slightly less formal:
l It is important for you to take this medicine twice a day.
l It was considered desirable for her to attend a school where Italian was taught.
